Megan Baker
Megan is the Operations Manager and guide at Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge. She grew up in New Zealand, in the rainforest and on the Pacific Ocean, in her family's beat up kayak and tiny tin boat. Following her move to Canada in 2001, she has worked on the wild coast of British Columbia in marine conservation and whale research and as a kayak guide and outdoor educator.
Megan has spent most of her career working to create and preserve areas of wilderness for wildlife and biodiversity in BC. In her role at the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, she worked to create marine protected areas on the BC coast. As the Program Director for Cetus Research & Conservation Society, she co-managed the operations of the whale conservation non-profit and operated vessels off the coast of north-eastern Vancouver Island, providing on-water education about the conservation of killer whales and humpbacks and educating boaters about how to view the whales while still respecting their space.
Megan is a firm believer in appreciating and learning from wildlife and wild places, while keeping them that way.
